  • Type I – Fluorescent dye
  • Type II – Visible dye
  • Method A – Water Washable

  • Method D – Post-Emulsifiable, Hydrophilic

Developer

  • Form a – Dry Powder
  • Form b – Water Soluble
  • Form c – Water Suspendable
  • Form d – Nonaqueous, Type I
  • Form e – Nonaqueous, Type II

 

Dwell Time

  • Unless otherwise specified, Minimum Dwell Time shall be 10 min.

 

Water Washable, Manual Spray

  • Water Pressure not to exceed 40 p.s.i.
  • Water Temperature shall be 50-100° Fliquid penetrant crack indication
  • Minimum Distance, nozzle to part, 12 inches

 

Drying Oven

  • Temperature shall not exceed 160°F
  • Oven must maintain temperature at ± 15°F

 

Developing

  • Unless otherwise specified, Minimum Developer Time shall be 10 min.

 

Inspection

When using type I dye,

  • Ambient White Light shall be under 2 ftc.
  • Ultraviolet Light shall be at least 1,000 µW/cm² at 15″
  • Inspector must wait at least 1 minute for eyes to adjust

When using type II dye, liquid penetrant indications

  • White light intensity must be at least 100 ftc.
